The webinar will be held from 1-3pm Central time on October 21, 2017.
It’s again the time of social movements. Across the country, communities are organizing the change their conditions. NFL players are taking a stand resisting Trump and white supremacy. Communities such as Richmond, California, Jackson, Mississippi, and Birmingham, Alabama are organizing cooperatives for economic independence. But, how is this done? What is the correct strategy? How can change be forced and what tactics can be used.
In this webinar, I will introduce the concept of radical reform and put to rest the division between revolution and reform. Revolutionary actions weaken the state system, creating opportunities for reform, opportunities which have always always been filled by piecemeal liberal reforms, pushed by professional activist organizations. I will argue that the space created by revolutionary action must be filled by radical reform or reforms that capture territory from the state, i.e. the creation of commons. Join me for a step-by-step approach to social movements.
