This webinar was held from 11am-1pm Central time on June 24, 2017.
We are often told that variety is the spice of life. But, when we look at our own social relationships we tend to surround ourselves with those that think, act, and even look like us. When we do not engage with different people with different ways of thinking in our everyday lives we miss out on the richness our world and our society have to offer. How can we build community by valuing the many different lived experiences and talents that surround us? How can we make sure that everyone has a place at the organizing table no matter their race, culture, gender, class, or religion?
This workshop explores the many ways to bring seemingly different people together by providing strategies, tools, and methods that work to foster collaboration. You will learn how to work on contentious issues by creating spaces of mutual respect to have open dialogue while learning to actively listen and hear your fellow community members. Through providing the building blocks to create a deeper understanding of your community by acknowledging their needs, wants, and concerns you can forge a new path toward a better, stronger, and more resilient future together.
